Equipment and systems for welding fume extraction
Welding fumes are considered to be the emissions formed by dusts, gases and vapours produced by the vaporisation of metals and the decomposition and diffusion of molten materials into the air. The main source of welding fumes is consumable elements, such as the electrodes used. The health and safety consequences for welders exposed to these fumes are respiratory problems and UV radiation, which can cause skin and eye injuries.
Companies carrying out welding activities in-house must carry out a risk assessment, involving all safety stakeholders, to define prevention and protection measures to reduce the risks of exposure to welding fumes.
