Extraction and filtration system for powder painting plant
GGE designed and built an extraction and filtration system on a powder painting plant for a leading company in the automotive sector located in the province of Reggio Emilia.
Due to the characteristics of the pollutant to be extracted, the whole system is Atex Ex II 3D certified.
The filtration of the air from painting dust takes place via the Power Jet filter unit, which is connected to powder painting booths. The dusty air reaches the Power Jet, where it is separated from the dust by passing through 30 antistatic filtering cartridges.
Most of the dust falls to the bottom and it’s deposited in two collection bins, each equipped with a level indicator to signal when the bin is full. The finest dust, which remains clinging to the filtering fabric of the cartridges, is removed by a counter-current compressed air cleaning system, automatically controlled by the Eco Compact APC digital control unit.
Three explosion-proof panels are installed on the structure of the Power Jet filter unit, as a safety system to vent a possible explosion.
The clean air passes through a 45 kW DT centrifugal fan, placed inside a soundproof box for noise reduction, and expelled into the atmosphere through a Ø 650 mm exhaust chimney.
As an additional safety device, a carbon steel explosion isolation valve is also provided, a passive protective device that prevents the propagation of any explosions in the suction lines.
The start and stop of the extraction system on the powder painting plant is done via an electrical control panel with an inverter and automatic air flow regulator according to the needs of use.
