Welding fume and grinding dust extraction plant
For a long-standing company based in Reggio Emilia and operating in the metalworking sector, GGE designed, built and installed two extraction systems: the first aimed at extracting the polluting fumes generated in the welding department, the second at extracting and filtering the air laden with metal dust produced by iron grinding.
The welding fume extraction system is composed of a centrifugal fan with a maximum air flow of 23,000 m³/h; 18 extraction arms model Elefantino ELP/C/14 with Ø 150 mm intake nozzle, length 4200 mm with extended arm, all equipped with self-extinguishing flexible hose and mounted on support poles with anchorage to the floor. The system is managed by an control panel with an inverter with automatic speed modulation.
The extraction and filtration system for the air loaded with grinding dust, on the other hand, consists of a centrifugal fan with a maximum air flow of 11,000 m³/h. The suction system consists of 2 extraction walls model Walla, with a front suction width of 3000 mm, and 2 extraction walls with a front suction width of 2000 mm. Each wall is equipped with a calibration damper for adjusting the flow rate.
The intake air, laden with dust and, potentially, sparks from grinding activity, first passes through the Red Cyclone spark trap, which drastically reduces the possibility of sparks reaching the filter unit, breaking down much of the coarser dust.
The plant also consists of a Finpol/HZNL 12 cartridge filter unit, with a filering surface of 246 m², a control unit for automatic cartridge cleaning, a bucket for collecting filtered dust and a fire-fighting flooding system.
