Welding fume extraction in Tuscany
For the Tuscan headquarters located in the province of Arezzo of a prestigious Italian construction and civil engineering company, GGE srl designed and installed two fume extraction systems generated by welding processes.
The first system is equipped with 6 self-supporting and articulated ELB suction arms, which capture the Tuscan company’s welding fumes directly at the source. The arms have a suction hood of Ø 150 mm and, when extended, they reach a maximum length of 9.2 meters (5.2 mt arm length plus 4 mt extension). The arms are connected to the suction system by flexible self-extinguishing hose.
The vacuum inside the pipes is generated by a DT centrifugal fan, which achieves an air flow of 15,000 m³/h. The air extracted, loaded with welding fumes, is expelled into the atmosphere through a Ø 700 mm chimney.
The second system, similar to the first one in operation and purpose, is equipped with suction inlets, which allow the capture of welding fumes within the working area. The air is extracted by the motion of a DT centrifugal fan with an air flow of 30,000 m³/h and is then expelled into the atmosphere through a Ø 1,000 mm chimney.
The operation of both welding fume extraction systems in Tuscany is carried out using two control panels with inverters and automatic air flow regulation according to usage requirements. The fans can be switched on and off locally, using the buttons on the control panels, or remotely from external contacts.
